At the end of the program, students will be able to:
- Communicate ideas and
information effectively.
- Read and write a
variety of fiction and non-fiction materials.
- Understand the language
structure and expand their vocabulary.
- Use basic
conversational English.
Target
The program is intended for students between the ages of
8 and 18 whose native tongue is not English.
Duration
Each program offered by the Notabilia Education Centre
consists of 5 levels. Students are expected to complete one level per month
and encouraged to complete all 5 levels.
Assessment and Monitoring of Progress
We conduct assessment tests that help us place students
in the appropriate level of a program. Their progress is reflected in
quizzes and tests conducted throughout a course. Students will also
receive progress reports prepared by their teachers at the end of each
course.
Courses and Contents
All courses are comprised of teachers' instruction,
guided practice in class and independent practice outside of the
classroom. The program is divided into four parts: 1) Writing 2) Reading 3)
Listening and 4) Speaking and Etiquette.
Writing: Each program focuses on the
use of a variety of sentence types and the structure of paragraph and
essay writing.
Reading: Students will be trained to read independently with a
critical thinking mind.
Listening and Speaking: There will be
numerous interactive computer activities, audio and visual aids used to
enhance the effectiveness of the program. In addition, students are
given ample opportunities to immerse themselves in an English speaking
environment outside of the classroom. A series of extracurricular
activities include visits to shopping centres, concert halls, sports
stadiums, museums and other educational venues, as well as dining in restaurants.
Etiquette: Throughout the activities
mentioned above, students will gain experience while maintaining
decorum and deportment in a variety of social occasions.
